10-Year-Old Hit By A Car While Riding His Bike

Posted: Updated:

A 10 year-old boy is lucky to only have a few scrapes after he was hit by a car while riding his bike.

It happened late this afternoon just off of 32nd Avenue and 18th Street in South Fargo. Neighbors told Valley News Live they saw the boy coming out between cars before a Fargo woman slammed on her brakes and hit him with her car.

Officers say this is a good example of why it's important to stay alert when driving, especially during this time of year.

"Think bike safety and motorist need to be aware that with the nicer weather that kids are going to be out on bikes more, and that we not only need to pay attention to not only vehicles on the roadway, but also juvenile kids riding bicycles and just anyone on bikes or walking." says Fargo Officer Jason Abel.

The boy was taken to a hospital with minor injuries to his knees and mouth.
