Healthier Me: Focus on Feet Before Races

If you are running tomorrow -- take it easy on your feet today.

There's a lot of focus on legs during marathon training, but the fitness experts at Sanford Health say your feet are just as important.  

The experts say it is important to clean out your shoes before the race. Sometimes little rocks can get into your shoes. After 13 or 26 miles -- that little rock will feel pretty big.

And, you might want to grab the nail clipper before your long run tomorrow.

Kendall Railing/Sanford Health: That's a great way to lose a toenail. If you have long nails that are hitting the front of your shoe -- you will likely lose it."

Everyone knows you should have a good pair of running shoes, but what about socks? The experts say that is important too. Cotton socks don't wick away sweat, so you might want to invest in some race socks before you run.
