A lot of time and effort has gone into race day preparations and exercise specialists at Sanford Health say race recovery is just as important.
Here's the top three list from the experts at Sanford Power Center in Fargo:
(1) Keep moving. After running 13.1 or 26.2 miles... Don't just stop. Keep walking. There is plenty of room in the Fargodome to keep your legs moving.
(2) Hydrate. Make sure you get enough water after the race and for the next few hours and days.
(3) Protein. Your muscles need protein to recover and regenerate. The protein will help your muscles grow and get stronger.
The experts say race recovery doesn't end the night of the race. While you may want to kick up your feet and take a break... It's important that continue stretching and working out over the next few days to keep your body limber.
