A fire on Friday in Perham destroyed a barn and possibly 50 head of cattle, according to a news release from the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office. The Perham fire chief contacted the state fire marshal, they are working to determine how the fire started.

The Perham fire chief says 4 departments responded, Perham, New York Mills, Wolf Lake and Vergas helped put out the fire.

A total of 47 Firefighters hauled a little under 100,000 gallons of water to put the fire out. The call came in around 5:45p.m. and the last truck left the scene around midnight.

It looks as if the fire may have started in the front of the barn. A couple is purchasing the farm and the cattle in the barn belonged to both the couple and the present owner.

The fire is still under investigation.
