First Moorhead Relay For Life

Posted: Updated:

Eight months of planning on a fundraiser is over, and Friday night, it's game on. Moorhead High School students organized the first Relay For Life walk.

It is all benefiting the American Cancer Society, cancer research and patients. Students organized the whole event, many who've had connections to Cancer.

Survivors along with supportive family members, all were excited to be joining a relay that was so close to home. Along with the walk there was face painting, games and a silent auction, everything helping benefit the American Cancer Society.

Students from Moorhead say they are proud to be a part of the first relay event here, and they hope it will be the start of many more to come.

"I hope for the high schoolers especially that they realize that they can make a difference in this, like we can really help in the fight and stuff, so awareness yea is a really big part of it." says co-chair and Cancer survivor Kylee Seljevold.

Student organizers say they have already raised almost $4,000 since the start, all that will help bring awareness to Cancer.
