Two Minneapolis police officers shot; in stable condition

Several members of law enforcement are on the scene of a shooting of two Minneapolis police officers. The officers were shot around 3:30 p.m. in the 2700 Bryant Avenue South.

The Minneapolis Police have tweeted that the two officers hit were taken to HCMC and that they are in stable condition.

Minneapolis Police Chief Janeé Harteau held a news conference Friday afternoon. She confirmed that the suspect in the shooting is dead. The suspect was shot and killed. They do not have names of anyone yet.

Just after 4:30 p.m. the Minneapolis Police Department tweeted: "Scene is Code 4. Only one suspect involved. MPD not looking for any other suspects."

Police say the incident started as a suspect in car fleeing police. Then it turned into a foot chase. The suspect fled into a house. Officers were clearing the house when shots were fired.

While officers were responding to the shooting Friday afternoon a motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a police squad car at 26th Street and Blaisdell Avenue.
