Thief River Falls Father and Daughter Survive Plane Crash

Posted: Updated:

A Thief River Falls father and daughter are lucky to be alive, after crashing their single engine Cessna Thursday morning 11 miles west of town.

Pilot Ken Asp and his daughter Mallory went out for a quick flight to check field conditions. But, when they tried to land at their farm's landing strip the cross winds were too strong. They tried to land on a highway near their farm, but they clipped a power line and wound up upside down in a nearby field.

Mallory Asp told Valley News Team's Neil Carlson she feels very fortunate and happy to be alive.

Thursday night the Asp's were using a loader to haul the damaged plane back to their farm.

The crash remains under investigation by the FAA.
