Class Ring Returned After 31 Years

Posted: Updated:

FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A North Dakota man is being reunited with his high school class ring more than three decades after he lost it.

Jerry Prante drove from Wahpeton to Fargo on Saturday to pick up the ring that had gone missing 31 years earlier.

Greg Olson, owner of Treasure Island Coins and Precious Metals in Fargo, found the ring several years ago. He used it to demonstrate metal detectors to customers.

One of Olson's employees noticed the initials "JEP" on the band and the name of the high school.

This past week, Prante got a call from his old high school asking if he'd lost his ring.

Olson says Prante's ring is one of several he's returned during his 39 years of metal detecting.
