UPDATE:

A car crashed right through the front door of the Cass County Jail Friday morning, causing quite the stir.

Right now, it's unclear whether it was done intentionally by the driver.

When we made it to the Cass County Jail all media was held back a couple of blocks.

Cass County authorities and Fargo Police were there, all for a car that drove right through the front door of the Cass County Jail.

"One of the sergeants on scene quickly realized that some things didn't look so right with this. It was perfectly aimed through the doors. It came straight in. Some things didn't add up in what we saw," said Cass County Sheriff Paul Laney.

The man who came through the front door, was here for a court ordered breathalyzer test. He has to show up twice a day, 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. all to prove he's not consuming.

"No. He wasn't given a breathalyzer. Officers are investigating the crash. They took the individual to the hospital to get checked out," said Lt. Gene Anderson of the Fargo Police Department.

Police are saying alcohol was likely not a factor but one things for certain, for a compact Mercedes Benz to bang right through the front door, authorities knew they had to take every precaution.

Lt. Anderson says it was necessary to take all precautions, "we wanted to make sure everything was safe before we rendered the scene safe and that's why we brought in the bomb squad to insure the vehicle was safe."

So with the joint efforts of the Red River Valley Regional Bomb Squad, Cass County Sheriffs office, and Fargo P.D, the scene here changed from potential bomb scare to just one unusual morning at the Cass County Jail.

There were no immediate threats, however the area was blocked off. 34th street in front of the jail was closed. A robot will be brought in to search the vehicle.

No one was hurt in the jail, but staff has been moved away from the area where the car smashed in.

The inmates did not have to be moved. The closest inmate pod to the lobby is still quite a distance from the crash site.
