Red at F-M Appears to be Cresting

Posted: Updated:

The Red River at Fargo-Moorhead has been holding steady at just over 33 feet since early Tuesday afternoon, and weather officials are calling it the crest. It's highest level so far is 33.26 ft. at 3 a.m. today.

The National Weather Service dropped its crest forecast for the third straight day Tuesday,  adjusting the anticipated peak of the river to 33.3 feet -- down from the 35.5-foot estimate that came out Monday and the 37-foot projection that was issued on Sunday.

The river begins flooding at 18 feet but few structures are affected until 38 feet.
