Overland Flooding Forces Rolette County Evacuations

Posted: Updated:

Overland flooding led to some evacuations in Rolette County in northeastern North Dakota.

The Red Cross assisted eight families living in a mobile home court on Sunday after their homes were surrounded by two feet of water.

Six families are staying with friends and other family members. The Red Cross placed two of the families in a local motel.
Due to the remoteness of the location (nearest Red Cross office 117 miles away), we the two families are now staying at a motel in Rolla, North Dakota. The nearest shelter supplies are two hours away.
Red Cross staff members have been in contact with the County Emergency Manager and Sheriff's Department. There will be a damage assessment conducted Monday morning after sunrise.
