Flood Control Efforts Continue in Cass County

Posted: Updated:

Cass County officials are starting their 3rd day of distributing sandbags and building clay dikes and levees in parts of the county.

Even with the possibility of a lower river crest than initially thought, Cass County Engineer, Jason Benson, says they'll still continue moving forward with their efforts.

"The areas that we are constructing right now we will continue to construct those because they are needed even at 36, 37, 38 foot flood event."

Cass County ordered 500,000 sandbags from sandbag central and still has several hundred thousand on hand for their needs.

County and City of Fargo officials are also reminding people to not climb any dikes or levees that have been built and to not go around road closed barricades. Failure to follow these warnings could result in injury to yourself along with a $500 fine.
