Flood Fight Now 24/7 in Fargo

Posted: Updated:

The North Dakota National Guard has joined the flood fight in Fargo, which is now running 24/7. About 80 soliders are manning various traffic control points on 12 hour shifts as crews dig and move clay.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is pleased with the current dike construction in Fargo, they plan to have at-least two sites finished by the end of today and hopefully start constriction on the large downtown dikes later this week.

Fargo Police remind that near the cities clay borrow sites, one up north on airport land and one on South University and 64th Ave. South. That speed in those areas has been reduced to 25mph, and roads could get very slick with mud and clay derbies on the roadway.

Police will be enforcing speed along these sites with tickets starting at $80. Drivers are asked to stay extremely vigilant and look out for increased truck and pedestrian traffic.
