MN House Passes All-Day Kindergarten

Posted: Updated:

The Minnesota House has passed its education finance bill that funds all-day kindergarten statewide.

The House education budget also provides more early-learning scholarships for 3 and 4-year-olds and adds $209 per student to the state's basic funding formula.

Later this week, the Senate will take up its education budget.

Senate Democrats' say they also plan to fund all-day kindergarten.

A long push to fund all-day kindergarten across Minnesota is ramping up at the Capitol.

Minnesota House Democrats have made all-day kindergarten and education as a whole, one of their top funding priorities for this session.

The House's education bill will come up for a full vote this afternoon.

Even if it passes there is still work to do.

The Senate's education budget, set for a vote later this week, doesn't give as much money to Minnesota schools as the House version.
