Posted: Updated:

UPDATE

The Cities of Grand Forks and East Grand Forks have moved the curbside collection for spring clean-up week back to the week of May 13–17. The delay is due to the late spring and current flooding in the area.

The curbside collection for both communities is now scheduled for May 13-17. Residents are asked to place their items (household quantity) where you normally place your garbage by 7 a.m. of your normal collection day.

The landfill will also have extended hours during Spring Clean-Up week. The extended hours are, Saturday, May 11 to Saturday, May 18 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. except for Sunday, May 12. Grand Forks residents can bring household quantities there for free during those hours. Simply show proof of residence, like a utility bill.

ORIGINAL STORY

If you had anything you were ready to get rid of during Fargo, Moorhead, or West Fargo's Cleanup Week, you'll have to hold onto it a little longer. Every year it happens the first week in May, but it's been re-scheduled for September 23-27 for Fargo because of the spring flood.

Moorhead pushed their cleanup week back to June 3-7. West Fargo is also postponing, but has not set a make-up date. Dilworth will hold Clean-Up Week the first week of May.

City of Fargo release:

Due to the historically late spring flood, the Fargo City Commission has approved postponing cleanup week to September 23 – 27, 2013.

The annual electronics recycling event has been postponed to Saturday, September 21.

Cleanup week is traditionally held during the first week of May, however, the Red River is anticipated to crest in early May this year.

Levee removal and flood cleanup will likely extend through May and into early summer.
