GoFar Charities

Posted: Updated:

In light of the Boston Marathon bombings, many want to run and make the most of it. One opportunity right here in the Valley is to run with a GoFar Charity. Even one runner can make a difference for families that use the support from organizations.

Taytum and Kullen Duray are brother and sister, and only 10 months apart.

"their just full of life." Their mother Jamie Duray laughs. Both have sever Autism, and without the help from the North Dakota Autism Center Jamie says the family would have to hire more nanny's and she would have to stay home with them. But thankfully with donations and fundraising, the center stays open to help the kids.

"Their comfortable here as you can see as they run around, uh crazy." Jamie says. To the Duray's, this is like their second home. Jamie continues, "It's a wonderful place and I'm glad that my children have the opportunity to come here, because not everyone has this kind of a center available to them."

While the kids are running around inside the center, in less than a month hundreds will be outside for the Fargo Marathon, an event that over 16 charities are a part of.

"I don't see a better way than to run for a charity." Jamie says.

Runners can join a charities team to help them raise money, and the North Dakota Autism Center is one of many charities you can run for to help families like the Duray's.

"The North Dakota Autism center is right here. Your helping kids in this community, that don't have anywhere else to go. I mean this is, your helping Taytum, your helping Kullen, we don't give our money to research or any of that kind of stuff, it stays right here to help these kids."

There may be a million reasons to run for a charity, and here running inside today there are two.

This is the 9th annual Fargo Marathon will be ran on May 18th. They are hoping to get over 12,000 runners, to help support their effort to buy shoes for area kids. There are a handful of GoFar Charities you can run for including the Alzheimer's Association, Habitat for Humanity and Youthworks.

If you want to support the North Dakota Autism Center sooner, they are hosting their AuSome Evening. For more details Click Here.
