10th Red River Valley Heart Walk Kicks Off

Posted: Updated:

The American Heart Association is kicking off their 10th Red River Valley Heart walk in the Fargo tomorrow.

More than 500 walkers are expected to turn out for the annual event, in an effort to raise $75,000, last year the walk brought in $68,000.

Heart disease remains the leading killer in North Dakota and in the United States, The American Heart Association says less than 1% of the U-S population has ideal heart health and that's why walks like this are so important.

80% of the money raised at the walk goes toward education, awareness and research, some of that research is funded at The University of North Dakota and North Dakota State University.

The heart walk takes place at Scheels Arena, 5225 31st Ave S in Fargo, ND. Tomorrow, Saturday, April 20th. From 9-Noon.

There is no cost to participate at the heart walk but donations are encouraged.
