Fire in Moorhead Industrial Park

Posted: Updated:

Moorhead Firefighters battled a fire in the city's Industrial Park earlier this morning. The fire broke out at Mill Creek Cabinets in the 2800 block of 24th Ave. just before 6 a.m.

Heavy smoke was seen pouring out of the building by a passerby who called 9-1-1.

Moorhead Asst. Fire Chief, Jeff Wallin, tells Valley News Live that thick smoke gave crews trouble finding the fire because it was smoldering throughout the overnight hours in what they believe was the shop area of the building.

Intense smoke and heat caused extensive damage throughout the building. Firefighters also had to cut holes in the roof to help ventilate the building.

Crews are spending much of the morning hours tearing off metal siding and extinguishing installation as the fire spread into the walls before they could get it out.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
