NDSU Women Set to Compete in California Meets

The North Dakota State women's track & field team will compete in four meets in southern California this week, including the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif.

NDSU's heptathletes will open the week competing at the California Invitational/Mt. SAC Multi-Events meet in Azusa, Calif., on Wednesday, Apr. 17, and Thursday, Apr. 18.

Seventeen Bison entries have been accepted at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays, which will run from Apr. 18-20 in Walnut, Calif. NDSU women expected to compete at the Mt. SAC Relays include: Anna Benke (pole vault), Leslie Brost (pole vault), Antoinette Goodman (100m), Deborah John (100m hurdles), Katie Johnson (hammer throw), Melissa Kitching (400m hurdles), Emily Lesser (shot put, hammer throw), Maddie McClellan (3,000m steeplechase), Brittany Page (400m), Heidi Peterson (5k/10k), Paige Stratioti (800m), Erin Teschuk (1500m), Ashley Tingelstad (400m) and Brecca Wahlund (5000m).

Bison athletes will take part in the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa on Friday, Apr. 19, and the Beach Invitational in Norwalk, Calif., on Saturday, Apr. 20, to fill out the competition schedule.

At the end of May, the top 48 performers in the NCAA's East and West regions in each event will qualify for the NCAA Preliminary Rounds. Eight NDSU performances this season stand in the West Region's top 48 at this time.

Brost remains the highest-ranked Bison on the national performance lists, tied for No. 12 in the country in the pole vault.

NDSU, winner of five straight Summit League outdoor championships, leads The Summit League with 28 performances that rank among the league's top-five in each event this season.
