Late Spring Hurting 5K Registration in Fargo Marathon

Posted: Updated:
The Fargo Marathon director says spring's late arrival is affecting race registration. Numbers are way down for the 5K race.

Mark Knutson thinks the cold weather has kept people inside and off their feet. But, he says it's not too late for people to prepare for the 5K.

People can run or walk that race. Knutson says it's the perfect time to get outside and start training...especially since the weather is about to warm up.

Mark Knutson/Fargo Marathon director: "It's been a tough winter. We were spoiled last year. I think it was 70 by Easter time last year. So, it's been a challenge for people... myself included."

Proceeds from the Friday night 5K will go towards buying new shoes for area kids in the community.

Fargo Marathon events run May 16th through the 18th. You can still register for races online.
