More Security Expected at Fargo Marathon After Boston Marathon Tragedy

Posted: Updated:

Fargo Marathon Director, Mark Knutson says they may take extra steps to ensure security at this year's events after the tragedy at the Boston Marathon.

Knutson says protecting events like a marathon is a very difficult process because of the sheer size of the route -- which is 26.2 miles.

But, he says the marathon is still safe to run and he will work to make sure people feel safe while there.

Mark Knutson: "I think we could do a few bomb sniffing dogs in areas like the Fargodome and other areas that are more heavily populated with runners and spectators."

Knutson says the company that tracks time for the Fargo Marathon also tracks time for the Boston Marathon.

He says some in that group were across the street from one explosion -- but no one was hurt.
