Marching For Babies

Posted: Updated:

Every year, about a half a million babies are born prematurely. And Saturday, hundreds marched to help raise money for them.

It's part of the March of Dimes, and today is one of their top fundraising events. Decorated adults and kids walked around the Scheels Arena for an hour.

The nonprofit organization helps families with pregnancy, Premature babies, and infant deaths. Some who walked today did it to support loved ones who once needed help from the program.

Adam and Shonda Chwialkowski, had baby Hope 11 weeks early. With the help from the March of Dimes they finally got to bring her home. Saturday they marched in a group of over 40 people.

"It's totally pay it forward, because there's a mom sitting there right now, who is there everyday not knowing if her baby is going to have a good day or a bad day, and their up's and downs are so fast that every little bit of support that you can get while you're there is unbelievable." Shonda says.

Adam and Shonda's group alone raised over $6,000 for the March of Dimes.
