Erbert and Gerbert's Donates Loaves to Good Cause

Posted: Updated:

One local sandwich chain has found a way to feed the hungry beyond the cash register.

Erbert and Gerbert's began donating extra loaves to non-profit organizations about two months ago, so nothing will go to waste.

The downtown Fargo location partnered with the Salvation Army, where they say the bread is used to make all kinds of meals.

Workers say some days they donate up to 20 loaves to organizations.

"They'll take what we have and what we have goes to a good cause," Ted Horan, Owner, said. "And from what we hear from our partners is that they're excited to receive. And people who are enjoying our bread, they like our bread when they come in and purchase sandwiches, to have that opportunity is pretty good."

But, other locations are still looking for partnerships.

So far, the 13th Avenue location in Fargo and the Grand Forks location are looking to team up with an organization that feeds people.

Partnerships are either running or in preparations with the locations in Moorhead location, on 25th Street and in Bismarck.

To connect your agency with the program, call your local Erbert and Gerbert's store and leave a message for the marketing team.
