UPDATED: Two Armed Robberies Could Be Connected

Updated 4/12 at 10:35 PM:

Two men have been arrested in connection with Friday mornings robberies at two separate spots. 24 year old Abdi Mohamed Abdi is charged with two counts of robbery, no permanent address is listed for him. And 20 year old Abdikhadar Mohamed Gelle of Fargo faces one count of robbery.

Fargo police had in the back of their minds the two robberies may have had something to do with each other, and after a quick investigation they were proven right. Police say the arrests were made because evidence from both scenes matched, there was surveillance video from area businesses, and the public was able to get information.

The two men are arrested for robbery with class B felony's because they made threats that they had a weapon.

"We came into contact with them earlier this afternoon, and we were able to retrieve evidence of the crime and are currently doing a search warrant at a residents to obtain the rest of the evidence to support the arrests for both charges." says Sgt Jason Nelson.

A class B felony could be a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine. The two men are being held in the Cass County Jail and will be in court early next week.

Original Story:

Police are investigating to see if two robberies are connected in south Fargo.

The first happened just around 5 a.m. Friday morning at the Petro Serve convenience store at 2110 South University Drive. Police say two black men who appeared to be in their early 20s entered the store with scarves tied across their faces and took cash from the till. They mentioned a weapon but did not show any weapons and didn't hurt the clerk. The two men left in a car.

The second happened around 7 a.m. at the All Stop convenience store at 13th Avenue South near West Acres. Police say one black male entered the store with a T-Shirt tied across his face. He also mentioned a weapon but did not show any and did not hurt the clerk. The man left the store in a car.

Fargo Police say the two robberies may be connected, "I don't think there's a coincidence that the two happened at the same time, said Sgt. Bill Ahlfeldt. "We haven't really conducted a full investigation to see if that has occurred or if the two are connected or not but I mean one would assume they probably are since they happened such a short period of time and similar description of suspects."

Police are still searching for the men involved, if you have information call the Fargo Police Department.
