BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota Sen. John Hoeven is trying to get two nominees for leadership positions in the Obama administration to visit North Dakota.
Hoeven says Secretary of Interior candidate Sally Jewell and Environmental Protection Agency Administrator hopeful Gina McCarthy should see North Dakota's energy industry firsthand.
If confirmed, Jewell will oversee federal lands, natural resources and Native American programs. Hoeven says North Dakota is a key player in the nation's energy development and much of the activity is on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation.
McCarthy currently services as assistant administrator for the EPA's Office of Air and Radiation.
