Red Cross Partnering With Area Restaurants To Provide Hot Meals For Sandbag Volunteers

The American Red Cross Minn-Kota Region will be working with local restaurants to provide hot meals for volunteers during the lunchtime period at Sandbag Central on Odd Number Days. This partnership will hopefully provide more incentive for volunteers to fill sandbags and give them an added perk for donating their time during the day.

  • Mezzaluna will be providing pasta on Friday, April 5th for 300 people.
  • Maxwells will provide 300 meals on Tuesday, April 9th.
  • Rhombus Guys Pizza will be providing 45 pizzas on Thursday, April 11th.
  • Famous Dave's will be providing food for 300 people on Saturday, April 13th.

"We certainly appreciate these businesses partnering with the Red Cross to provide food for our sandbaggers," said Regional CEO Judy Green. "Their donation is significant and shows their support for our community and volunteers stepping up to make one million sandbags for flood fighting efforts."

The Red Cross will also be providing snacks, drinks, and other food during this period as well. The Red Cross anticipates providing 2,000 meals and 6,000 snacks at Sandbag Central until the 1,000,000 sandbag goal is met.

The Salvation Army will provide food for volunteers at Sandbag Central on even number days.
