Expensive Power Lines

Posted: Updated:

Some power lines in South Fargo that need to be moved, are costing the city over one million dollars.

Lines on 32nd Avenue South, running between 42nd and 45th Street, will be combined for future road expansion.  Also, faulty lines on 14th Street South need to be repaired this spring.

"With them they are currently underground, they need to fix them, but in order with us to have a dike over there with the current flooding we're asking them to do it above ground temporarily, until they can burry the lines again later, post flood." says City Commissioner Melissa Sobolik.

The city and Xcel made an agreement in 2010, but now the final bill has put them 19 percent above the original estimated cost.
