Job Fairs for Former PRACS Workers

Posted: Updated:

The former PRACS employees specialize in research for drug, dermatology, and cosmetic industries and while many don't have a job today, some local opportunities are springing up fast. The window of opportunity for many of those employees could be opening up less than a week after they lost their jobs.

Blue Cross Blue Shield Career Fair

When PRACS Institute's hundreds of employees found out their company was locking it's doors after 30 years in the business last week, one could only imagine many of those employees were wondering... What do I do now? Turns out there's a company in town who took a distinct notice to the types of folks that just lost their jobs at PRACS. Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota and Noridian Administrative Services in Fargo are taking a close look at the new candidates.

"We've never had this kind of a pool of people at one time available that so nicely fit the kinds of jobs we have available." Says Chief of Staff, Denise Kolpack, of Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota.

"No doubt about it, it's a great match for us and timing wise we do have a lot of positions that are open and very similar too what these people just left." Explains the Human Resource Team Leader, Jennifer Satter, at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota and their affiliate Noridian Administrative Services, plans on hiring a couple hundred people by mid summer. The same types of people that last week found themselves out of work. Both Kolpack and Satter agree many of the positions they'll be filling are likely right up former PRACS employee's alley.

Kolpack says in the world of growing technology they are constantly looking to fill up new positions at both BCBSND and Noridian. "We're looking for positions in information technology, customer service, marketing, claims and finance audit, and project management." Says Kolpack.

They're not just looking though, they're actively hiring. They encourage all employees who lost their positions at PRACS, to swing by on Tuesday.

"We hope they all come by tomorrow we heard there's about 350 employees that are now without work and we'd really like to talk to them." Says Kolpack.

A unique situation really.... The horror of losing a job... Coupled with a brand new opportunity right in the same town all within a week.

Some other local businesses are stepping up for the folks that lost their jobs at PRACS. Maxwell's and Artisan Home Furnishings are both offering 50 dollar gift certificates to former employees. Just bring some paperwork that proves you were employed with them and they will give folks a certificate.

That career fair will be held at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota in Fargo on Tuesday, March 26 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
