Firearm Incident

Posted: Updated:

At around 4 A.M. Saturday morning, Grand Forks Police were dispatched to the area of 1106 26th Ave. S. for a fight between several subjects.  The caller reported hearing a gunshot, and seeing a male subject carrying some sort of a long gun.

Border Patrol located the vehicle related to the incident a few blocks away. Grand Forks Police officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the vehicle drove officers a few blocks through a residential area before pulling over.  The driver then exited the vehicle and walked into a residence at 1020 1St Ave. N.

Officers followed the subject, confirmed as 25 year-old Zachary Curtis from Grand Forks, into the residence.  He was initially uncooperative with the officers, but eventually complied.  Curtis was arrested and confined in the Grand Forks County Correctional Center for Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle, Obstruction, Reckless Endangerment and Discharge of a Firearm in City Limits.  A shotgun was recovered from Curtis' vehicle.

The Grand Forks Police Department was assisted by the US Border Patrol and the Grand Forks Sheriff's Department.

Nobody is believed to have been injured during the incident, but anybody with further information is asked to contact the Grand Forks Police Department at 701-787-8000.
