In Thursday's Healthier Me, a Georgetown University study is linking Gulf War illness to physical changes in the brain.
About one in four Gulf War veterans experience unexplained pain and fatigue that can't be traced to any single exposure to nerve agents, pesticides, or herbicides.
Now, brain scans of 31 veterans with these symptoms have found damage in nerve fibers that connect brain areas linked to perception of pain and fatigue.
Researchers say this discovery could someday lead to treatment.
