It`s a different story for the girls from Beach. They will be representing Region Seven at the state tournament for the fourth year in a row after defeating Dickinson Trinity last week. First up for the Buccaneers is a rematch with Napoleon. The Imperials beat Beach early in the regular season, but the Bucs feel like they`re a different team heading into state.
"We definitely picked up our defense and we`ve got to moving the ball around a little more so hopefully that will help in the offensive end, but we just need to stop their screen and roll and we`ll be fine," said junior Hailee Farstveet.
"They were a good running team a lot like how we play and we weren`t used to that yet. Hopefully we can keep them from doing the same thing," said senior Kari Schmeling.
Getting to the state tournament in Class B is quite the accomplishment, and at Beach it`s becoming the normal.
"We`ve all had that frame of thought to want to get to the state tournament and we knew what it`s like, so we know it takes a lot to get there and as a team we all have the same mentality," said junior Cydni Stedman.
The Bucs were third at last year`s tournament and won the state title in 2010.
