Flood Buyout Home Ready To Be Auctioned

Posted: Updated:

Many homes through the Valley have been bought out through the years because of flooding. Now some of the homes are ready to be sold to be moved to new locations.  Some people are looking to cash in on the deal.

"Kind of stimulates your thought process, but it's not for everyone because there's a lot of detail, you know the buyers have to do their home work and make sure that it can be moved and there's a lot involved in it." says Jim Lakoduk with Pifer's Auctioneers.

Despite many terms and conditions, .for some they may be getting a half a million dollar home for a fraction of the price, and that's what attracted many today.

"Some people I think are looking for designing ideas, others are looking to see weather indeed the homes can be moved, and then we've had some salvage people through who are looking to see weather it might be worth it for them to buy a house and then salvage parts out of it." Jim says.

And some were more interested in something to new to see.

"kind of just looking to see, I can't imagine I know I saw a house down south that they moved down there, one of these big houses, and it must be quite an undertaking, I just can't imagine it." says Douglas Strand who walked through the homes today.

Talking with licensed house movers there's many variables that would decide the cost to move the home, it could range anywhere from 10,000 to 30,000 dollars. But in Jim's opinion, "Most if not all of these homes will end up being salvaged because the economy of moving them are not there."

Sometimes the right price just may bring you a great home. Once they homes are bought they have to be cut up and moved to a new location.

The auction is Monday at 1pm at Fargo City Hall. All bidding will be open to those who pre-registered. For any more information Click Here
