Grand Forks To Challenge Population Figures

Posted: Updated:

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - Leaders in Grand Forks plan to challenge the Census Bureau on the city's official population.

City officials believe the 2010 Census figure of 49,321 people is low and that it has cost Grand Forks federal funding. They say the loss of an air refueling tanker mission at Grand Forks Air Force Base before the census might have skewed the count.

The Grand Forks Herald reports that the city plans to challenge Census Bureau figures and also get a cost estimate for a special census before 2020.
