$1 Million Powerball Ticket Sold in Wahpeton

Posted: Updated:

There may be a new millionaire in Wahpeton, North Dakota and it is the talk of the town. A Powerball ticket sold at a Cenex convenience store in Wahpeton is worth $1 million dollars.

The ticket matched the first five numbers but missed the Powerball in Wednesday's drawing. The first five numbers are 5, 9, 28, 32 and 38, and the Powerball is 29.

Beth Terfehr works at Cenex and says everyone coming into the store on Thursday was wondering about the winner. "Yep everybody here is talking about it and very, very excited. You think it's somebody you know, and it's like oh, probably, but who knows?"

The North Dakota ticket was one of five $1 million winners. There were two in Florida, one in Kentucky and one in New Hampshire.  No one won the jackpot. The top prize goes to an estimated $216 million for the Saturday drawing.

Powerball is played in 42 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
