Fargo Park District Creates Household Pass

Posted: Updated:

The Fargo Park District Board has agreed to broaden those who can qualify for a "family" discount on season passes at Fargo's Public Golf courses. The district sought legal counsel on the issue, and today the board changed what was called a Family Pass to a Household Pass providing some discount. The issue surfaced after a lesbian couple legally married in Iowa was denied the pass in early February. That couple says today's decision was the right one.

Fargo Park Board President Joel Vettel says the board is not about defining marriage-- they're about parks and recreation.

Here is the new definition of a Household Pass from the Fargo Park District:

Providing some discount, it allows for 2 adults and youth age 18 or younger residing in the same household to golf under the pass. The youth would receive the Junior restricted pass. This also creates a Junior Add-On Option to the Adult pass. This would allow an adult buying a pass the ability to add on junior restricted passes at half price for their children.
