Healthier Me: Daylight Saving Disruptions

Posted: Updated:

In Monday's Healthier Me, "springing ahead" may feel more like a stumble for some of us as we try to adjust to daylight-saving time, and if you were feeling a little more lethargic than usual today, you weren't alone.

Coffee shops in the F-M area were busy all day, brewing up an extra buzz for folks looking for a pick-me-up.

If daylight saving has you down, good "sleep hygiene" also helps; doctors recommend avoiding heavy meals before bedtime, staying away from a lot of caffeine or alcohol, and resisting the temptation to nap during the day (or, if you must nap, keeping it to about 10 or 15 minutes). It's also best to stop working an hour before bedtime, so your body can calm down.
