In Monday's Healthier Me, new research shows kids may lose immunity to whooping cough in the years after they get the fifth dose of the DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis) vaccine, which protects against the disease.
This study, published in the Pediatrics journal, tracked the immunization records of children in Minnesota and Oregon and compared them to cases of whooping cough; they found an increase in the highly contagious disease in children in the six years after they got the 5th dose of the vaccine.
