The Fargo Police Department is notifying the community  that registered sex offender John Roy Oliver Nelson is living at 1122 2nd Avenue South #5 in Fargo, ND. Nelson was assessed as a high-risk offender by the North Dakota Sex Offender Risk Assessment Committee.

Nelson was convicted in Dickey County District Court in North Dakota in 2009 of Gross Sexual Imposition. He was also convicted in Brown Juvenile Court in South Dakota for sexual contact with a minor. His victims were female acquaintances under the age of 15. Nelson is a lifetime registrant.

A community notification meeting has not been scheduled. Interested groups or individuals wanting further information or wishing to schedule a meeting may contact Lt. Joel Vettel at (701) 476-4094.

The Grand Forks Police Department, in accordance with North Dakota State Law, is notifying the City of Grand Forks and the surrounding area of the presence of a Level III (High Risk) Sex Offender living in Grand Forks.

Brandon Jon Kuntz, 25, was recently released from jail.  Kuntz will be living at 421 1st Avenue South #A3.  He was convicted of Gross Sexual Imposition and Corruption/Solicitation of a Minor in 2010.  The North Dakota Sex Offender Risk Assessment Committee assigned Kuntz a risk level of "High" and as a result has a Lifetime registration requirement in North Dakota.

The Grand Forks Police Department provides for the tracking and verification of those individuals that have been convicted of sex offenses, offenses against children and those that have been adjudicated as sexually dangerous individuals.  This is accomplished through the Offender Tracking and Verification Program (OTVP).

As of March 4th, 2013, there are 96 such offenders registered with the Grand Forks Police Department that either live, work or attend school within the City of Grand Forks.   Of these 96, there are 6 currently assigned a risk level of HIGH.


In Crookston, the police department is hosting a community notification meeting to let you know about a level three sex offender getting out of jail.  Dean Melvin Johnson, 47, will be released from prison on Monday, march 11th.

Thursday, March 7 the police department will be at the Crookston High School auditorium to pass along information about Johnson. He is in prison for possession of child pornography, mostly of females age 10, and engaged in actual or simulated sexual acts.

Johnson did not know his victims.  He'll be living on the 800 block of Marin Avenue in Crookston, Minnesota.
