Oil Boom Cities Looking To Revitalize Downtowns

Posted: Updated:

DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) - Two cities in the middle of the western North Dakota oil patch are looking to spruce up their downtown areas.

Officials in Dickinson and Williston are planning revitalization projects to help convince people to live and shop downtown.

Williston recently lifted a six-month moratorium on new residential dwellings downtown and are looking for people to help with design changes.

Dickinson has hired an Oregon consultant to outline a plan that would include new parking, business and residential buildings.

Dickinson City Commissioner, Carson Steiner tells the Dickinson Press (http://bit.ly/Z7yxsJ) that downtown revitalization will not happen overnight, but now is the time to take up the issue.
