North Dakota Potato Stocks Up 43 percent

FARGO, N.D. (AP) - The latest estimate from the federal Agriculture Department shows about 12.7 million hundredweight of potatoes in storage in North Dakota.

The figure includes potatoes held by growers, dealers and processors. It is up 43 percent from last February and up 23 percent from two years ago.

Current stocks represent about 50 percent of production, up from 47 percent in both 2012 and 2011. Russets account for 69 percent of the total.
