Search for Body of Missing Twin Cities Woman

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE:

Dozens of people are helping search for the body of a Minnesota woman who has been missing for more than two weeks.

People gathered at Lilydale Park in Saint Paul over the weekend to comb through the park for Kira Trevino's body but there was no sign of her.

She was last seen as she was leaving the Mall of America where she worked.

Her husband, Jeffery Trevino, has been charged with murder even though her body hasn't been found.

St. Paul police are still tracking down dozens of leads.

A prayer vigil is planned in Wisconsin for a missing woman whose husband is accused of killing her in Minnesota.

Kira Trevino is a Wausau, Wisconsin area native and a 2001 graduate of Everest Senior High School. Her family lives in the Wausau area.

Prosecutors on Thursday charged Jeffery Dale Trevino with murdering his missing wife, after investigators found blood traces throughout the couple's St. Paul home. Authorities have not found Kira Trevino's body, but they believe she's dead.

The Wausau Daily Herald reports a vigil for Kira Trevino's safe return will be held at 5 p.m. Friday at Bethany Baptist Church in Weston.

Trevino didn't show up for work at the Mall of America, and her car was found in the mall parking lot.

Kira Trevino failed to show up for work at the Mall of America Friday. Her abandoned car was found Saturday in the mall's parking lot. Police say her cellphone and purse were inside.

St. Paul police Sgt. Paul Paulos says detectives have enough evidence that a crime was committed in the woman's disappearance.

Police say the investigation remains a "missing persons" case.
