Historical Society Hopes To Save VC Home

Posted: Updated:

With its Victorian exterior, every step taken inside the home on 5th Avenue Southwest in Valley City is a trip back in time.

It was a home built in 1901, that includes features many people don't see anymore. From stained glass windows, old light switches, and a china cabinet built into the dining room. "It's just a neat old house." Kara Kramin works with the Barnes County Historical Society and says this house is one of a kind. "A lot of important history."

But she says the home's future could end up being just a part of the cities past. "This last fall we lost 27 houses." The home here was one of the cities flood buy out homes and if the home isn't moved by the end of March, it will be destroyed. "It's been remodeled. It's not to hard to bring it back to it's original state." Kramin says there's a timeless beauty about the home and just hopes the time on this house doesn't run out. "I'd like to see it moved and saved"

If you may be interested in the house, just give the city manager a call.
