Possible Horse Neglect Investigated Near Vergas

Posted: Updated:

Authorities are investigating a case of possible horse neglect in western Minnesota. The Otter Tail County sheriff's office was called Sunday about two dead horses and two others near death in rural Vergas, Minnesota.

A neighbor gave 10 horses food and water. The 10 horses did not have hay. The sheriff's office says the state Humane Society and High Tail Ranch and Rescue near Hawley are involved in the investigation.

Authorities were not able to locate the horses' owners Sunday morning.
