Abducted 8-Month-Old Found Safe, Suspect in Custody

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE WEDNESDAY 4:15 P.M.

Police say the child has been found safe and the suspect is in custody after an Amber Alert was issued for an 8-month-old boy allegedly abducted from the Southeast end of Minneapolis.

Police said the boy was believed to be abducted around 11:55 a.m. Wednesday while the mother was taking a shower in her apartment on the 2100 block of Portland Avenue South.

The mother told police she left the child, identified as Carlos Orozco, in his car seat inside the apartment. When she got out of the shower, the child was gone.

Police initially said this was a stranger abduction but later said that was not true.

They were looking for a woman named Isabell Diaz Castillo. She recently met the child's mother and police believe she grabbed the boy around noon.

The abduction happened in the city's 3rd precinct, which covers the area south of Interstate 94 and east of Interstate 35W.
