Healthier Me: Unapproved Flu Meds

In Tuesday's Healthier Me, the FDA is advising people to avoid purchasing certain flu medications online.

 

Regulators have sent warning letters to 10 online retailers selling so-called 'generic Tamiflu,' which not approved by the FDA, and companies must also remove false claims that the product is "the most effective alternative to the flu shot."

Although the FDA has yet to receive reports of any harm from these medications, experts say unregulated products sold on the web may be too strong, not strong enough, or even contain the wrong drug.
