Local Cleaners Busy with Western Oil Boom

Posted: Updated:

As the oil booms out west, oil rig workers are helping the economy boom in Eastern North Dakota.

One North Fargo laundromat is bringing in business by taking their dirty laundry.

At Busy Bubble Laundromat, busy may be an understatement for these bubbles.

Aaron Olson challenged his customers to bring in the dirtiest, the grimiest, the nastiest.

"We'll launder just about everything," Olson said.

So when oil rig workers bring in something that looks like this, they've got the recipe to make it look good as new.

The more workers heading into oil fields, the more customers walk into Aaron's shop- new ones every week.

"It's a very good income for us, we're doing quite a bit now," Olson said. "It's a big part of our bread and butter."

In fact, cleaning oil rig worker's laundry accounts for about a third of their business.

Customers who are willing to drive more than six hours, Olson says some of his customers live out in Williston.

And for others commuting from home to work, Aaron's shop is an important stop on the way.

As the booming industry leaves a mark on Fargo, these guys scrub it off.

Busy Bubbles is gaining so much momentum with their professional oil cleaning equipment, they've created a separate web site just to highlight that service.

There are laundromats in Western North Dakota that offer the same service, but there are so many workers and cleaners are so sparse that local businesses say they're not much competition.
