In Thursday's Healthier Me, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued two new studies of sexually transmitted infections (STI's) today.
The studies reveal that the 8 most common STI's -- chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, herpes, HPV, Hepatitis B, HIV, and trichomoniasis -- accounted for 110-million infections and nearly $16-billion in medical expenses in the US in 2008.
HPV ranked as the most common STI, and chlamydia was second.
In their ongoing battle against the spread of disease, the CDC would like to remind everyone that prevention is key; condoms offer protection against at least 4 STI's.
