GF Sheriff's Department Releases 2012 Statistics

The Grand Forks County Sheriff's Department released it's 2012 statistics. Speeding and seat belt citations were up, along with sexual offenses and drug/narcotic charges.  Here is a breakdown of some of the numbers that stand out.

  • Assaults were down from 102 in 2011 to 88 in 2012
  • Drug/Narcotics numbers are up from 97 in 2011 to 144 in 2012
  • Theft is slightly down from 101 in 2011 to 77 in 2012
  • Vandalism is also slightly down from 93 in 2011 to 70 in 2012
  • Sexual offenses doubled from 9 in 2011 to 18 in 2012

The sheriff's department also reports some standout statistics on the roads:

  • DUI stayed about the same from 104 in 2011 to 108 in 2012
  • Speeding tickets were up from 561 in 2011 to 793 given out in 2012
  • Seat belt violations were slightly up with 83 in 2011 to 101 in 2012
