As Seen on Tv: The Orgreenic

Posted: Updated:

The As Seen on TV industry is a $150 billion a year business, selling everything from cookware to household accessories, but do they really work.

This week the Valley Today's John Trierweiler took the Orgreenic pan out for a test, a product that claims to be stick free and super durable.

Tyler Matthys, Sous Chef at Ushers House in Moorhead, tested it out for us and admits his first impressions didn't really impress him much. "It looks like a dainty little pan to me, But I guess we'll see."

And see we did, by melting one of the stickiest things possible, sugar. Essentially creating a caramel, to our surprise it actually came right off the pan even impressing our chef.

However just after one use we took it for a wash, a pan that says it's been tested to handle thousands of abrasions and a commercial that shows rocks sliding on it's surface.

After we scrubbed it with steel wool though, eggs, cheese, all stuck right to the pan not going anywhere. Matthys, believes it just cant handle what it says. "I scrubbed it with some steel wool and there should be some crevasse in here that keep it from releasing."

Ogreenic recommends that you heat a small layer of oil before the pans first time use for, "best results." We did not do that but as we showed the orgeenic was unable to perform it's claims after just one wash. We paid 30 dollars for our orgreenic.
