I-94 Shut Down: 4 Semi's + 1 Car Accident

Posted: Updated:

Three people were taken to Essentia in Fargo ND after four Semi trucks and one car were all in the ditch. It happened just after 10:30 Saturday night, on I-94 East near Buffalo, ND. The accident caused a temporary shut down of both lanes for tow trucks to pull semi's out of the ditch.

The accident started with two semi's that jack-knifed, and shortly after another semi hit a car in the rear, forcing it into the ditch. The car had a family of three in it, the mother was driving and had no serious injuries. The father was in the passenger seat, and a son in the back seat. The son had to be pulled out of the car and Troopers say he suffered a broken leg along with other serious injuries. The family was taken to Essentia in Fargo.

Trooper Cody Harstad says then another semi hit the existing one that was already in the ditch. Trooper Harstad says this needs to be a reminder for all drivers to slow down on the roads during icy conditions.
